Hands down the best breakfast in Owasso/Sperry.  Eggs were cooked to perfection. The Sausage and pancakes were awesome.  It is quaint and definitely a family restaurant.  Great stop for this on motorcycle rides or car clubs.  Service was great!!

Will definitely come back for lunch!

Apparently Breakfast is the meal to eat here, because my lunch was lacking on just about every point.
While trying to find a place for a quick lunch in Owasso, my Yelp! app brought this one up. I'd known about the place but seldom venture westward out of Owasso, so I'd not been there yet. I decided that was as good a reason as any to give it a try.
Upon arrival, I was amused to find bars on the outside of the doors. Not that THAT has ever deterred me in the past.
Inside, the place is nothing special, but that doesn't usually matter to me, as I can't eat the furnishings in a place. If the food is good, the place can be a dump and I won't care.
My server was friendly and on top of things the entire time I was there, so I have no issue there at all. My problem lies elsewhere.
Looking at the menu, I saw 4 basic groups.... breakfast, which didn't appear to be offered in the noon timeframe... Mexican food, which I just wasn't in the mood for.... what I'll call 'American Diner', which is your meatloafs, chicken fried steaks, etc..... and Sandwiches, meaning burgers, etc.
Since breakfast didn't appear to be an option, and I didn't want mexican, that narrowed down my choices considerably.
Sticking to my usual litmus test for a diner, I opted for the chicken fried steak.
My logic here is that generally, everything in an order of CFS can either be made wonderfully from scratch, for a wonderful experience..... or thrown together from mixes and frozen bags for a dismal, subpar experience. Judging by the posted price on the menu, I had my suspicions about where I would land, but I pressed on anyway, largely due to the other Yelp! reviews.
The one bone of contention I had with the server was when I placed my order, she didn't ask what sides I wanted. I specified mashed potatoes, and asked if I could get a small side salad.
Now, it's been my experience just about everywhere in the civilized world, that a choice of side can be a small side salad. Apparently I assumed too much in this case, because I was arbitrarily given green beans as my second side, and a salad ON the side.... put a pin in that one for a second, and I'll come back to it.
As it turns out, the beans were the high point of the meal, but just barely so. They were the really thin variety that had obviously been steamed until just crunchy. The only real issue I had with them was they appeared to have been overly dried at some point. I suspect they were frozen and steamed to reheat.
The steak itself... lived up to my worst fears.... it was a preprocessed chunk of tenderized mystery meat dredged in a scandalous excuse for breading. The best part was that it was hot and tender, and not overly large. Honestly, I don't even buy those things to feed my adult son who doesn't have a job and won't move out. Major fail #1.
The mashed potatoes were instant, but I honestly would have been surprised had they not been. That said, they worked. The held shape, they didn't taste like wood paste, and they were nice and hot.
The gravy was probably a bulk brand purchased in 5# bags from Sysco. But again, it was hot and lump free. For the love of all things holy, how can anyplace call itself a restaurant and NOT make gravy from scratch?
So now let me go back and unpin that salad.
It arrived as salads generally do, in a bowl. It had large chunks of onion buried at the bottom of the bowl, an anemic slice of tomato on top, and some crude chops of bell pepper strewn around the edge. I should have taken that as my harbinger of things to come, but I guess I was just being optimistic this day. After tossing the pepper shards, I dutifully squirted on some ranch dressing and went to town. I ate most of it before my lunch arrived, and that's a good thing, because I got charged $3.99 for that bowl of mulch. Now, keep in mind, the price for the meal itself was $8.99. So I was almost at 150% of that at this point.
And it's not the money.... it's not.... if you've read my reviews, you know I'm not a cheap bastard. I'll gladly pay $20, $30, $40 or more for a good meal, and brag about it.
But it had better be worth it.
    This wasn't.
This was crap that I could buy at the local grocery store and reheat on my stovetop after an all-night drinking binge and a bad hangover. Unfortunately, by the time they bought everything precooked, they probably didn't make a lot of profit on this meal. You can't make money in a restaurant if you don't cook from scratch.
So, all totaled, my lunch tab, with an iced tea, ran just south of $16. With a tip, because really, the service was friendly and fast, I blew $20 for a meal that I wouldn't serve in my own home.
Call me a snob if you want, but I don't understand why anyone would open a restaurant, take on the debt and headache, and not try their best to cook their food from scratch.
When asked, my server commented that they'd been open for two years.
I reckon breakfast must be awesome, because I sure don't see how they've stayed open this long serving what I ate.

Wow that was spectacularly bad service!!! My husband and I met up for lunch today and the restaurant was not busy. We ordered Nachos and a Ruben sandwich at 11:10 and FINALLY received them at 11:50. The waitress obviously didn't give a crap about the patrons, leaving several glasses empty, one table never received their rolls even after very pleasantly reminding her about them; her response to them was "I know I told her about them" in a very "don't bother me tone."

I'm fairly certain our waitress wasn't an experienced server either as she served my husband two Corona's without the lime that should come with them....and the second one she brought was actually corona light, not even what he ordered....apparently she couldn't read a label.

The food tasted okay once we finally received but it was nothing special...and the fries were obviously not home made but frozen from a bag and just deep fried (I can get that at McDonald's.) The food certainly wasn't worth the wait and the bad service and attitude ensures that I certainly won't recommend it to any of my coworkers.

One last note...The name Nannie's Cafe is also very misleading, as is their sign when you drive into the parking lot. This makes you think of American style home cooking but more than half their menu is Mexican food???

    I won't be going back.

My fiancé and I don't live far from Nannie's, in fact, we pass it nearly every day. Recently, we decided to try Nannie's for lunch and what follows is our experience. We walked in and there was an awkward silence in the restaurant and suddenly we heard, "sit where ever you want". She (we don't know her name because she never introduced herself) came over to take our drink orders. My fiancé noticed when we sat down that Nannie's had bottle beer. I asked for a sweet tea, he asked for a Bud Light and she looked at him strange for a moment as though she was hesitating. Definitely an awkward moment. We later ordered (at the same time) and my food was brought at least 3-5 minutes before my fiancé got his. This is also the awkward time when she decided it was a good point to bring us the complimentary chips and salsa. Considering that other than my fiancé and myself, there were a whopping 3 other people in the restaurant. Since she wasn't busy, why she decided to bring what we considered to be an appetizer out at the same time as the entree was rather odd. In addition, I'd have preferred to have both of our meals brought at the same time. I'm a tad old school and waited until his was brought to actually begin eating. All the while, mine is getting cooler by the moment. This can be considered my fault for not eating as soon as she brought it, but I didn't do so out of respect for my fiancé. The food wasn't bad. I stayed safe and chose fries and chicken tenders and he opted for enchiladas. We both liked the flavor of our food overall. Our customer service, it simply didn't exist. The other patrons must have been regulars or friends because she certainly conversed with them. When we finished and got our ticket, there was no direction to pay at the table or register. We finally just got up and walked to the counter. THAT was the time when she decided to be social and asked about our golf cart we'd driven up there. We still had a Halloween decoration attached and she was far more interested in THAT than our experience there. Even so, had she spoken to us about it while we were eating, we'd have felt better about our service there. However, she didn't even check on us during our meal. Overall, the food was okay. It's not some place he and I would go rushing to. In fact, I have no issues driving past it and not even looking over since I'm no longer curious about it. I now have first hand experience that the food is average and the customer service was far more inferior than I'd expected. On a final note, be reminded I noted the restaurant was "dead". In my opinion, this is a major reason to give the customers exceptional service. While the food may not have been over the top, we could have atleast walked away telling people we had good customer service. For a small, hole in the wall restaurant, you really need that word of mouth to draw business in.

Great customer service. Super friendly and helpful.  Enchiladas were awesome and the home made salsa was excellent! Hope we get to stop buy again soon!
